Bengaluru, Sep 27: Former Karnataka chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, has given vent to his anger at the way in which the union government and election commission have conducted themselves in connection with the case of disqualified legislators from Karnataka. He has accused the union government of using the commission as a puppet.

Addressing the media persons on Thursday September 26, Kumaraswamy clarified that he was not here to discuss about the Supreme Court order. He pointed out that for the first time in the country, advocate representing the election commission had sought for the postponement of bypoll. He expressed the opinion that the election commission was not right in doing so.

"The conduct of a constitutional body leaves much to be desired. For the first time in history, the commission has indulged in such an act. Who influenced the election commission?" he wanted to know.

He said that the BJP has failed to get relief for flood-affected people of the state, but Yediyurappa had enough time to go to Delhi immediately after bypoll date was announced. "What discussions did he hold? Did he go there to protect the disqualified legislators or to escape physical assault in their hands?" he ridiculed.

The JD(S) which had convened parliamentary party meeting to select candidate for the bypoll on Thursday suspended the meeting after it came to know about the Supreme Court order.

JD(S) national president H D Deve Gowda, expressed helplessness as the Supreme Court has postponed the bypoll. He said that this has given rise to a feeling that election commission, which is an autonomous body, has failed in it duty He felt union government and Yediyurappa would have used their influence in this issue.
