Mangaluru, Nov 30: The nine-day Novena of the feast of Our Lady of Pompeii was inaugurated on November 29 at the Shrine of Pompeii in the presence of devotees, who gathered in large numbers for a prayer service at the Shrine at Immaculate Conception Church Urwa, here.
A procession was later taken to the church followed by mass.
Fr Boniface Pinto, professor at St Joseph’s inter-diocesan seminary Jeppu, here was the main celebrant.
Fr Stany Pereira, parish priest of Urwa church, Fr Jason Lobo, assistant parish priest, Francis Saldanha, vice-president and Lucy D’Souza, secretary were present. The feast of Our Lady of Pompeii will be celebrated on December 8.
