Karkala, Nov 30: “Mobile towers coming up like mushrooms these days directly impact our health. 90% of the towers cause sicknesses of various kinds. We need to oppose erection of another tower in the place of human habitat,” said advocate Sarvajnya Tantri.

He was speaking in a meeting opposing mobile network tower by Tower Virudda Horata Samithi at Jantra Punar School.

Lion’s deputy governor N K Hegde said that towers are not permitted wherever they like. “There are certain rules for them. Their constructions have direct adverse impact on health. Therefore, its construction should not be allowed at any cost,” he said in anguish.

A decision to submit a memorandum to the deputy commissioner by the samithi opposing the tower and to hold protests in front of panchayat office opposing its silence even if the tower is constructed was taken in the meeting.

Horata samithi’s Vishwanath Patker, school headmistress Emilda Pinto, school development committee president Shashikala and others were present.
