Mangaluru: Small Christian Community day celebrations at Valencia

Mangaluru, Dec 2: Small Christian Community day at the parish level was celebrated at St Vincent Ferrer Church, Valencia, on Sunday, December 1.

Eucharistic celebration was held at 4pm. Fr Joachim Fernandes, director of diocesan SCC was the main celebrant. Fr James, Fr Joswin and William were the co-celebrants.

Due to unexpected rains cultural programme that was to be held at the church grounds was shifted to the church hall.

The programme started with a prayer song. Anil Lobo, vice-president of Parish Pastoral Council welcomed the gathering. Winners of various competitions were awarded during the occasion.

Dolphy Saldanha and Patrick D’Souza were felicitated for their achievements and selfless service in the church.

Parish Council secretary Lizzie Pinto rendered the vote of thanks.

Richa, Steevan, Clive and Sapna Vamanjoor enthralled the crowd with their splendid jokes.

Youth of the parish sang various Konkani songs who were guided by renowned singers Ivan Sequeira and Robin Sequeira. Neena Rodrigues and team gave dance performances. Dolphy Saldanha and CGS Taccode were the emcee for the night.

Parish priest Fr James D’Souza, assistant parish priest Fr Joswin D’Souza, resident priest Fr Arun Lobo, vice president of parish pastoral council Anil Lobo, secretary Lizzie Pinto, SCC Valencia unit convener Jacintha Merlyn were present during the occasion. Stage programme was compered Patrick Dsouza the programme.

Dinner was served to all the people who were present. Food was specially prepared by the parishioners for the event.

Around 1,100 parishioners were present for the programme.
