Udupi: Adani UPCL supports construction of community hall in Padubidri under CSR worth Rs 35 lac

Udupi, Jan 8: Adani owned Udupi Power Corporation Limited at Yellur village supported completion of construction of Shree Subramanya Community Hall at Padebettu in the limits of Padubidri gram panchayat at a project cost of Rs 35 lac under its CSR.

The newly constructed Community Hall was jointly inaugurated by Admar Math senior pontiff H H Sri Sri Vishwapriya Teertha Swamiji, Lalaji R Mendon, MLA, Damayanti Ameen, president of Padubidri gram panchayat, Kishore Alva, President of Adani UPCL, Mattar Ratnakar Hegde, president of Construction Committee and Jeetendra Shetty, member of Construction Committee.

Welcoming the initiation of Adani for extending the support for the religious activities in addition to the Social Development works under its CSR, Admar Math blessed the occasion.

Later Alva spoke and informed that the Padebettu village is attached to the UPCL project and there was a big demand from the local villagers for the construction of community hall in the vicinity. UPCL, after taken over by Adani Group, has declared special CSR grant of Rs 3 crore to Padubidri gram panchayat, where in the company will take-up the works earmarked by the panchayat in panchayat’s Kriya Yojana, he told. Based on the request by the villagers, Padubidri gram panchayat had included the community hall construction work in its Kriya Yojana and submitted to Adani UPCL. This has helped the company to take-up the work at a tune of Rs 35 lac, Alva added.

Further Alva told that against the earmarked grant of Rs. 22.73 crores for taking-up the Community Infrastructure Development works in the nearby 7 gram panchayats, the company has till date completed the works worth nearly Rs 12 crores and the balance of works would soon be taken-up for execution.

MLA Lalaji Mendon appreciated the contribution of Adani company’s CSR for the village development works and informed that the community hall would benefit the villagers in organizing the religious and cultural programmes.

Later Damayanti Ameen, president of Padubidri gram panchayat thanked Adani UPCL for its CSR contribution for the development of villages.

Ramachandra Acharya, chief priest of Padebettu Sri Subramanya Swamy Temple, P Sreenivasa Acharya, Subhash Shetty, Kutyar Prasad Shetty, members of Building Construction Committee, Naveenchandra Shetty, Kapu and members of Administrative Board of Shree Subramanya Temple were present on the occasion.
