Puttur, Jan 9: In an accident which happened near Santhome Gurumandira at Mukrampady in the taluk on the evening of Wednesday January 8, a person who was riding a two-wheeler was killed. The victim was Monappa Gowda (58), resident of Bhaktakody in Sarve village, who was riding his Honda Activa scooter at the time.

Monappa was working as bus driver for Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, Puttur depot.

A car that was approaching from the direction of Sullia hit the said Honda Activa vehicle and an auto rickshaw that was right behind the two-wheeler. Monappa Gowda fell to the road and suffered grave injuries. He was immediately taken to the government hospital here but he did not survive the journey to the hospital.

Auto rickshaw driver Annu from Mottethadka, who was also injured, stands admitted into hospital. A case about the accident was registered in traffic police station here.
