Ramanagara: Actress elopes with fake director - Mother, grandmother, attempt suicide

Ramanagara, Jan 9: Distraught by the fact that an actress ran away with a fake director, the actress's mother and grandmother consumed poison on Tuesday January 7. While the grandmother died, her mother is fighting for life in a hospital at Mandya.

Vijayalaxmi is an actress from Mellahalli village in Maddur taluk, Mandya district. She had acted in some Kannada movies. She lived with mother Savita, and grandmother Chennamma, at Basaveshwara Nagar in Channapatna in the outskirts of Bengaluru. She had acted in 16 films like Ayushman Bava, Rajeeva etc. It is said that she also collected advance amount for upcoming films like Prem Mahal, Jawari Love, Production No. 1 etc.

She had recently visited Raichur for shooting during which period she fell in love with Anjanappa, claiming himself to be a cine director. On December 15, she left home and went away with Anjanappa. She came back after 15 days and sought apology from parents and grandmother, and vowed not to do so again. But on January 3 she disappeared again from home.

Vijayalaxmi's family went searching to find the antecedents of Anjanappa. They went to Hallihosoru in Koppal district, which is his native places, and found that he is not a film director but a dweller of a hut there. The family was devastated at this information.

In the meantime, those who had paid advance amount to Vijayalaxmi frequented her house, demanding return of advance amount. They were pressurizing for their money or to send their daughter for acting. The family, feeling harassed, tried suicide.

Vijayalaxmi's father Swamy, has filed complaint in this respect in the rural police station at Channapatna.
