Udupi: Dharma lies in good people: Sri Ishapriya Theertha Swamiji at felicitation programme

Udupi, Jan 9: A Poura Sammana, felicitation programme for the ascending Swamiji of Admar math, Sri Ishapriya Theertha Swamiji was held on Wednesday January 8 at Poorna Prajna Mantapa at Sri Krishna math, Car Street, here.

On receiving the honour from City Municipality Council, Sri Krishna Seva Balaga and Brahmin Associations, Swamiji said, "One should have affection for his village or land to develop a culture. In India, a brain-drain is happening wherein educated youth are moving abroad. Human beings are not happy with what they have done. For preventing dissatisfaction, one must adopt messages from Lord Krishna to control the mind.

"Panchendriyas are like five horses of a chariot held by Sarathi Krishna of Mahabharatha. Our body is like a chariot. God's grace is important to control those five organs.

"If people have an intense desire to protect Dharma, God will make the arrangements. Dharma lies in good people.

"I will try my level best to preach and make the concept of dharma easily comprehensible to society. Pravachanas, lessons will be conducted under the guidance of my teachers. I cannot promise, but I will put my honest effort in spreading the messages of Dharma in my two years of term.



Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha Swamiji, in his presidential address said, "Ishapriya Swamiji entered the city and the minds of the people today. I hope that he will be a good administrator, perform puja and give importance to the hospitality of devotees. He initiated a plastic-free drive, Swacch Bharat and is using organic rice for Naivedya. These are all good thoughts taken up by the ascending paryaya Swamiji, which is connected to nature and is eco-friendly as well. I wish that all his dreams get fulfilled.

R Ashok, minister of the Municipality administration said, "The government alone cannot educate the people. Maintaining the environment is today’s challenge. Nowadays people are using air filters on their mouths. The Swamiji has foresighted thoughts to protect nature for the next generation."

Annamalai, IPS in his congratulatory address said, "Only when Dharma, God and Science connect, today’s young generation will follow principles. Nowadays, people are talking more about justice. In the 21st century, we must be under a true sense of Dharma and know its relevance today. But it needs basic sense to teach it. I request Swamiji to focus more on spreading the message of Dharma in his two-year term."

Another guest at the event, Dr Gururaj Karjagi, educationist said, "We should make the people understand the definition of Dharma and we should teach it to children. Religious centers should be a part of nation-building, spreading Hindutva principles and protecting the religious."

Sri Vidya Rajeshwara Theertha Swamiji of junior palimaru math, K Raghupathi Bhat, MLA Udupi, honorary president of the committee, Shobha Karandlaje, MP Udupi Chikkamagaluru, DC G Jagadeesh, M B Puranik, I Lakshminarayana Mucchinthaya, Diwan, Sri Admar Math, Yashpal Suvarna, Pramod Madhwaraj, Vinay Kumar Sorake and others were present.

Minister R Ashok, felicitated Ishapriya Swamiji on behalf of CMC Udupi, MLA Raghupathi Bhat honoured him on behalf of Sri Krishna Seva Balaga.

Swamiji was felicitated by the general public.
