Kundapur, Jan 9: “It is our pride that the Billava community that is suppressed in society is ahead in patriotism when confronted with nationalism. We have walked on the path of one religion, one vote laid down by our mentor Narayanaguru. Billavas do not hesitate to go to jail when equality, religion and nationalism are threatened. But there are attempts to misuse the principles. Billava community opposes the conspiracy of divide and rule,” said Achyuth Ameen Kalmady.

He delivered a keynote address at the coordination meeting held at Parijat hotel auditorium, Kundapur on January 9 opposing the conference of Billava and Muslim community.

“Billava community does not have need to hold separate friendly gatherings yet. Being devotees of cow, we do not have to hold meeting with cow eaters. Billava community will stand against anybody using Billava community for politics."

Kalavara gram panchayat member, Sathish Poojary said that Billava youth will stand ahead for nationality, unity, matter of Hindus and dedication. “The present meeting is against attempts to break the community. We will not allow holding of immoral meetings."

Former Kundapur taluk panchayat president, Bhasker Billava asked what the need to hold separate meeting with Billavas is. “Let there be a gathering of all religions if that is the case. Is that an excuse to separate the Billava community which has been facing atrocities since the past?”

Avinash Ulthoor welcomed the gathering. Billava community leader, Girish Poojary, gram panchayat member, Prakash Poojary Beejady, municipal council member, Vanita Billava and Premalatha Poojary were on the dais.
