Mysuru: Tanveer Sait identifies assailant at parade of accused

Mysuru, Jan 10: Relating to the attempt on the life of MLA Tanveer Sait, identification parade was held in the central prison here on Thursday January 9. Sait identified the accused at the parade.

Sait, who had taken part in a marriage function at Bannimantap here on November 17 last was attacked with sharp weapons. In this murder attempt, Sait had survived with serious injuries. He was rushed to Columbia Asia Hospital. After recovering, he had visited Dubai to get advanced treatment. He returned to the country on Wednesday evening.

On the occasion of Sait's visit, tight security was arranged in front of the prison. With him, six eyewitnesses Suhail Baig, Khader Sait, Qurat, Muhammed Muttaj, Akbar Ali and his gunman Fairoze Khan, too had come. With their help, Sait could identify the attacker.

Many fans of Sait were waiting near the prison in large numbers and many touched his feet to express their reverence for him. The police had hard time controlling the crowd. The fans were devastated to learn that Sait's voice has undergone a change because of the attack with several of them shedding tears.

Sait told to the media that he could not clearly perceive what happened as the attack happened all of a sudden, and hence could not immediately identify the killer. He said that it was a fearful incident which no people's representative should face. He said his voice has gone through a change and it will take two or three months for it to heal. He thanked all those who met him when he was under treatment and confirmed that he identified the assailant with the help of eyewitnesses.
