Mangaluru, Jan 11: “This is the second freedom struggle. Students of hundreds of universities have got down to the streets against Citizenship Amendment Act. The students belonged to Muslim and majority Hindu communities also. We will not allow the peaceful India to be a Hindu nation,” said DYFI leader Sunil Kumar.

He addressed the protests against Citizenship Amendment Act held at Gram Chavadi, near Konaje by the Muslim Jamat Federation on Friday.

"Police personnel were directly responsible for the recent shoot out incidents by the police in the recent protests in Mangaluru. It is shameful that an unfit minister in the Karnataka government withdrew the amount of compensation announced for the families of the shoot out victims. Mohammed Ali Jinnah called the Muslims in India to Pakistan. But the Muslims in the country out of patriotism to India claimed that they are Indians and remained here.

"This is a secular country. All the Indians have joined hands against the Acts. This is only the beginning of the campaign."

MLA U T Khader said this is not a campaign by any religion but for the protection of the constitution created by Baba Saheb Ambedkar.

“BJP is trying to implement the Acts to hide several issues including that of the economy, unemployment etc in the country. We do not need Acts that push people to difficulties. All the people have united against the Acts. We will not allow the Acts till our last breath."

Moodbidri former SSF president, Hussain Ahsani Eemun said, "We had given our neck during freedom struggle. We have contributed toward protection of land and water in the country. There is no history of Hindu kings ruling the country leaving out Muslims. Therefore, such a rule is not possible even now. Muslims too have the right to say that they are the original inhabitants. Let us not divide the country based on religion, caste and tribe."

SDPI district secretary Iqbal Bellare said that Aryas had migrated to this country and not Muslims. “This is the conspiracy to hold back people based on sentiments during the elections.“

Farid Nagar Refai Juma Masjid Mudarris Sayyad Sharavuddin Tanjal Al Hydrosi Harekal inaugurated the meeting.

Dakshina Kannada district SSF Twalaba wing president, Ahmed Nayim Faizi Mukwe, Muslim Federation convener Abdul Razak, convener S M Asif Iqbal Malar, Jaleel Talapady and others were present. Federation member Zahir Malar presented an introduction. Mustafa Malar rendered the vote of thanks. Irfan Maulavi and Haris Malar compered the programme.
