Kasargod, Jan 12: A man who had started a small fire below his cot at night got roasted alive in the fire at night. The victim of this unfortunate incident was Poklan (55), resident of Parappa Pallattaamale here.

Poklan used to live in his house alone. He had the practice of starting a small fire below his cot with firewood before going to sleep at night for warmth to escape from the cold climate. In the early hours on Thursday, neighbours heard him shouting for help. They went to his house and saw that Poklan had fallen into the fire and had suffered extensive burns.

He was admitted into Pariyaram Medical College Hospital. However, he did not respond to treatments and breathed his last at around midnight on Friday.
