Kasargod, Jan 13: The police here have arrested an assistant working for a government school on the allegation of sexually harassing five girl students of the school. The arrested person happens to be Chandrashekhar (55), a native of Bambrana. Case under the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act has been registered against him.

Five girl students of the school had claimed that they were not feeling well. When the teachers questioned them, they narrated the story of how they were being sexually harassed by the assistant. The teachers then alerted the Childlline. Childline officials along with police arrived at school, recorded statements of the students and arrested the accused.

It is said that the accused used to ask girl students to reach the school early to assist in cleaning work. The girls who came early were taken into the office room where they were sexually harassed, it is learnt. The police are investigating the complaint.
