Mangaluru, Jan 15: The Institute of St Ann’s Pre-Primary Teachers Training Institute had its first Annual Day celebration on January 13 at St Ann’s High School hall.

The president of the day, Sr Dr Lydia Fernandes AC, the General Councillor, Sr Shubha, the secretary, the Apostolic Carmel Educational Society, Karnataka Province, Sr Maria Kripa, the joint secretary, St Ann’s Institutions, Sr Maria Reethika, the coordinator and other heads of institutions were welcomed by the students with Arati. This year being the 15th year of its inception, the institution had the highest number of 50 vibrant, dynamic, energetic and active students. By invoking God’s blessings through a prayer dance performed by the students the tone was set for the programme.

The programme consisted of various dances, value-based skits, jokes and a tableau on the foundress Mother Veronica. The winners of all the competitions which were organized during the cultural week were awarded. Meritorious students were recognized and honoured.

The senior-most teacher, Clemencia D’Couto’s 50 years dedicated and committed services to St Ann’s Institution as a teacher were recognized and she was honoured with a shawl, memento, fruits and a bouquet.

The chief guest, Sr Dr Lydia Fernandes in her address applauded the students for their best performance. She spoke about the vision of Mother Veronica and Mother Aloysia who laid the foundation for teacher education. As teacher students, they were inspired to be loving, compassionate and understanding toward their children.

The programme was compered by Sadaf Parveen Mansoor and Munawar Jahan. Sr Maria Reethika, the coordinator welcomed the gathering and Vilma D'Souza, a faculty member proposed the vote of thanks.
