Udupi, Jan 15: As part of Makarasankranthi and 'Sapthotsava' celebrations, 'Three-chariot Festival' (Mooru Theru) was held with grand manner at Sri Krishna Math here on Tuesday, January 14.

There is a myth that the exponent of Dwaita philosophy, Acharya Madhwa, installed the beautiful idol of Lord Krishna on this auspicious day at Udupi nearly 800 years ago. To commemorate this, ‘Saptotsava’ is held.

The three chariots or ‘rathas’ are drawn only during ‘Sapthotsava’. The drawing of the three chariots is a spiritually enriching sight.

The chariots fest was conducted under the guidance of Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Palimaru Math.

A large number of devotees drew the three chariots chanting the name of the Lord.

Sri Vidyasagara Theertha swamiji of Krishnapura Math, Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math, Vishwavallabha Theertha of Sode Math, Vidyavallabha Theertha Swami of Kaniyur Math, Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji of Admar Math and Sri Vidyarajeshwar Theertha Swamiji were present.
