Mumbai, Oct 2 (IANS) Bollywood actor Neil Nitin Mukesh has revealed that his singer father Nitin Mukesh was upset with him for having debuted with a negative role in "Johnny Gaddaar".
"My dad did not speak to me for six months because I signed 'Johnny Gaddaar'. He was so mad at me that he wouldn't even speak to me when eating meals," Neil told Farah Khan on STAR Plus' chat show "Tere Mere Beach Mein".
"I explained to him that it was necessary for people to recognise my acting abilities and that's why I'm doing the film. I can identify myself as an actor, make people identify with me as an actor. It was a big thing after the film released," he added.
Released in 2007, the film earned critical acclaimed for Neil and made his father happy.
"(After that) dad said that he respects me and he is proud that I did the film," said the 27-year-old-actor who proved his mettle once again in the hit film "New York". His next is Madhur Bhandarkar's "Jail", which is inspired by the 1999 BMW hit-and-run case in New Delhi, in which six people were killed.
The episode will air on Star Plus Saturday.
