Udupi, Jan 22: “A rally on foot and protests will be held in Udupi on January 30 at 2.30 pm opposing cruel Acts CAA, NRC and NPR of the union government,” said Amrith Shenoy, president of Sahabalve organization. He was speaking in the press conference held in Ambedkar Bhavan on Wednesday, January 22.

“The protests will be held jointly by the members of ‘We the people’ and Sahabalve. Several elite people and social activists will speak on the occasion. A rally on foot will be held from SP office till Christian High school grounds at 2.30 pm. Secular political parties, progressive, women, students, youth, labour organizations, Dalit organizations and religious organizations are expected to take part.”

“As massive protests were held in the country, the union government is saying that they do not intend to implement NRC. But preparations for collecting the information are completed. The details will be collected from April till September. Part B is added for it. We condemn NRC. Gandhiji’s statement that the Muslims should get equal citizenship rights was the cause of his murder. Baba Saheb has given us the constitution that provides political rights for those who are deprived of them. Our conference is aimed at preserving those values,” he said.

Sahabalve Udupi president Amrith Shenoy, Dalit Sangharsha Samithi Ambedkar chief secretary Sunder Master, Suresh Jathanna, Fr William Martis, Abdul Azeez Udyavar, Shashidhar Hemmady, Kaleel Ahmed, Sireen Mathais and Chandrika Shetty were present.
