Over 11 lac people joined AAP in 24 hrs after Delhi election results

Daijiworld Media Network - New Delhi (SHP)

New Delhi, Feb 13: Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) claimed to have gained over a million people from across the country to join the party within 24 hours after its impressive win against the BJP in the Delhi assembly election. The Delhi-based party also shared a mobile number on which people can give a missed call to join AAP.

"More than 1 million people have joined AAP within 24 hours of our massive victory," the party tweeted.

"About 11 lac people from all over the country have joined the Aam Aadmi Party within just 24 hours of the victory," the party said in another tweet.

With a clean sweep victory of 62 seats, AAP gained the power for the third time in Delhi. The Delhi assembly elections was a high-voltage campaign for the BJP, which fielded a battery of Union Ministers and Chief Ministers in its campaign, spearheaded by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The BJP was confined to a single-digit score, eight seats, but an improvement on its 2015 tally of three. The opposition and AAP hailed the mandate as one against the divisive campaign of the BJP. Kejriwal had steered clear of controversy and focused on providing better facilities to the public like power and water, education, health and environment. The Congress, which ruled Delhi for 15 years till 2013, won zero seats.

51-year-old Kejriwal will take oath as Delhi Chief Minister for a third consecutive term, on Sunday February 16. No chief minister or political leaders from other states will be part of the oath ceremony at Ramlila Maidan, senior party leader Gopal Rai told news agency PTI.

"Everyone in Delhi is invited to come and bless their son, their brother, Arvind Kejriwal and take an oath for a better Delhi," top AAP leader Manish Sisodia said at a press conference.

A party with mature politician at last. Hats off to people of Delhi who overcame communal pressures and chose development and peace. Congratulations to AAP volunteers who guarded the EVM from the criminals. I hope AAP will also take over all the states. God bless India.

Hope Kejriwal's AAP will be all over India.....!!!!!! None of the political parties have worked for the people since independence....or in other words they have a little for the people and a lot for themselves. All the present regional and National parties are to be defeated forever and ever.

It is true that the forces of communalism and polarization have been defeated and a centrist party like AAP has retained power by a huge margin. However one must also note that over 50% of the candidates who have won have serious criminal records. Additionally across all parties, a majority of the candidates who contested had criminal records. How then can one expect the politics of the country change?
Today the Supreme court has come with additional strictures on criminals in politics. All parties give an excuse of winnability rather than merit, but the Supreme court has said that this is not an excuse. Hopefully more stringent rules will be imposed, so that we can see the backs of criminals once and for all and have qualified people only representing us.

On the other hand the complete decimation of the Grand Old party is something Cong supporters should introspect. Congress under RaGa or anyone from the related dynasty will not revive the party fortunes irrespective of the number of repeated reboots. It just wont. The leadership itself is flawed to the core. The only thing that leadership is going to is resort to malpractices. Thats why its sad and hopeless. A merger would be the best option.

Congress Merging into AAP. Are you serious?
If that is the case, Kejriwal will have to contest elections in some constituency in Mallapuram or Wayanad in Kerala in 2024 .
