Bantwal, Feb 18: Bantwal town police station personnel arrested a person over theft of a two-wheeler. The vehicle allegedly stolen by him is recovered and he is remanded to judicial custody.

The arrested suspect is Pudukote district, Arantangi taluk, Tamil Nadu resident Raja K (38). A complaint of theft of Honda Activa two-wheeler parked at Melkar here on February 13 was registered at Bantwal town police station on February 15.

The two-wheeler was parked by Kalladka resident Sandesh below S R Mobile shop at Melkar. Bantwal town police personnel who were on the search for the suspect connected the details of the theft with the loop found here, arrested the suspect and recovered the vehicle at Dasakodi, near Kalladka this morning.

The suspect had gone to Mangaluru after stealing the vehicle to sell it there. As he could not sell it, he rode towards Mysuru to sell it when he was nabbed by the police at Dasakodi.

The theft came to light when Bantwal town police station SI Avinash and staff were inspecting vehicles at Dasakodi and the suspect was trying to flee with the vehicle. Police who became suspicious chased him and waylaid the suspect.

The operation was conducted under the leadership of police circle inspector T D Nagaraj by Avinash and staff ASI Sanjiva K, probationary PSI Kumar, HC Suresh Padar, PC Srikanth under guidance from DySP Valentine D’Souza.
