Media Release

Mangaluru, Mar 2: The Muhurtha for the drama titled 'Hanv Soth Sangtham' to be staged on Sunday April 5 at 6 pm at St Agnes Special School grounds was held here at Carmel Hill, Bikarnakatte, in the city.

Carmel Kiran the official YouTube channel of Infant Jesus Shrine along with Mangaluru Philharmonic Choir will stage the drama. Fr Ronald Serrao, rector of Jeppu Seminary has translated this drama from English original by Ladislas Fodor. The drama is based on the theme of Resurrection of Jesus which is an apt theme to meditate on the same as we are about to enter into the Holy Week.

Renowned artistes from Mangaluru and around will showcase their talents in this drama. Joel Pereira will coordinate the whole show and direct the drama alongside veteran directors Arthur Rasquinha and Jerome Moras. Since the drama involves both virtual and real stage presentation he said that this could be better termed as a dramatic presentation rather than a real theatrical drama. Speaking about the drama, Fr Ronald said that he had translated this drama long time ago, yet the right opportunity arrived now to stage it.

He narrated the summary of the drama and wished all the actors and directors the best. Fr Pius James D'Souza, the Episcopal Vicar of the religious said that such dramas are rarely played these days unlike in the past and need a lot of perseverance.

With the entire crew Joel managed to gather, this drama will be a very great success. Fr Wilfred Rodrigues the Superior of St Joseph’s Monastery said that Resurrection is more than a historic event, it is a meta-historic event. "We are indeed privileged to proclaim it and dramatics is one of the innovative ways by which we can proclaim Christ to the world of today." He thanked Joel Pereira the maestro, a rare multi-talented personality, for undertaking this project and promised wholehearted cooperation by the Carmelites.

Earlier, Fr Alwyn Sequeira the coordinator of Carmel Kiran led the prayer and Carmelite Brothers invoked God's blessings.

Kenny Pereira will direct the music and Cliyon and Quintus D'Souza will prepare the visuals. Arun Electricals will be in charge of lights and Arun of Rose Arrangers will set the stage. Carmel audio and video studio staff will coordinate the practices and recordings.

Though this drama is free yet the generous contribution is solicited from people of good will to meet the expenses.
