Mangaluru, Mar 5: “There are complaints that teachers in some private schools in the district are persuading children to undergo Coronavirus tests even for ordinary fever and that should be stopped,” said deputy commissioner (DC) Sindhu B Rupesh.

She was speaking in the meeting of health department and medical college officials held in the deputy commissioner’s auditorium.

“A circular is already sent to the educational institutes regarding precautions that need to be taken with regard to Coronavirus,” she said. She asked to take action according to it and not to cause confusion among students as examinations are approaching.

“All the arrangements are made for medical tests of travellers arriving in Mangaluru international airport. Suspected patients should be sent directly to the Wenlock hospital from there by ambulance,” she said.

She asked the health department to direct hospitals and doctors to provide training to staff in order to provide similar treatment and tests relating to the virus. She also directed that a report of different cases of fever in the hospitals in the district be sent to her on daily basis.

She asked NMPT officials to conduct preparations for health examinations of passengers arriving in NMPT tourist ships.

“There is information of the scarcity of masks. Their scarcity should be prevented,” she said to the drug controller.

Additional deputy commissioner M J Roopa, DFO Karikalan, district health officer Dr Sikandar Pasha, sub divisional officer Madan Mohan, urban development project director Gayatri Nayak, medical college and IMA representatives, NMPT and airport officials were present.
