Mangaluru: K M Nataraj refuses to accept honorary doctorate being conferred by law university

Mangaluru, Mar 5: Additional solicitor general of the union government, K M Nataraj, has refused to accept the honorary doctorate that has been decided to be conferred on him by Karnataka State Law University.

In a letter written to vice chancellor of the university,m Dr P Ishwara Bhat, he said he cannot accept the honour. At the same time, he has expressed his gratefulness to the university and the members of its syndicate for recommending his name for this honour. "I am still a student of law. Therefore, I am refusing to accept your decision to honour me with humility," he said.

At the meeting of the university syndicate held on February 28, it was decided to confer honorary doctorates on Supreme Court judges, Justice Mohan Shantanagoudar, Justice S A Nazeer, Justice A S Bopanna, senior advocate, K Parasharan, Upa Lokayukta, Justice B S Patil, Justice Rama Jois, solicitor general, Tushar Mehta, K M Nataraj and Prof C K Raja.
