14,034 students to appear for SSLC examinations in Udupi

Udupi, Mar 10: “SSLC examinations will be held in the district this year from March 27 to April 9. As many as 14,034 students including 13,028 regular and 484 regular repeaters, 376 private and 146 private repeaters will be appearing for the examinations,” said deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha.

He was speaking after presiding over meeting held in the deputy commissioner’s office on Tuesday, March 10, over preparations for the SSLC examinations.

“As many as 51 examination centres in all including 20 clustered, 29 non-clustered and two private centres are opened. CCTVs are installed in all the examination centres. Officials are assigned to convey question papers from the district treasury in strict security on time,” he said.

“Preparations for the examinations should be considered seriously and conducted successfully without drawbacks. Care should be taken to ensure that examinations are held continuously on course and in a disciplined manner without giving room for illegalities,” he said.

The DC directed to order for section 144 in the vicinities of examination centres and to close Xerox shops. “Legal action will be taken against violators. Criminal cases will be registered against those who spread false information about the examinations over Whatsapp and fake question papers. Media should verify the authenticity of leakage of question papers with the education officer before publishing such news,” he said.

“Use of mobiles is banned inside the examinations centres. An officer will be assigned to confiscate mobiles in the centres. Examination vigilant officials should visit the centres regularly to make sure that there are no violations and to provide necessary training to staff in the centres,” he said to the DDPI.

“Arrangements are made to keep question papers in the strong room of Christian high school. A superintendent is assigned for each examination centre to receive the question papers. Two teams of district vigilance squad are deployed. Three teams of Taluk tahsildar, taluk panchayat chief executive and block education officer will visit the schools during the examinations. Supervisors and transport officials are assigned to every centre to safely convey the question papers,” said district deputy director of public instruction Karinja. He requested the deputy commissioner to deploy necessary police personnel during transport of question papers and answer papers.

District panchayat deputy secretary Kiran Fadnekar, district treasury officer Savitri and all the block education officers in the district were present.
