Bengaluru, Mar 11: Education minister Suresh Kumar had taken out an order on Tuesday, March 10 in which he had asked the private, government and aided educational institutions in Bengaluru North, South and rural districts to declare holidays till March 31 for classes from Nursery till the fifth standard in the wake of the fast-spreading coronavirus scare in the city.

It has come to light that some institutions have violated the order and are continuing to hold schools. The minister, who came to know about this got infuriated and has instructed the heads of the institutions that it is the duty of all the schools to follow the order and the health of students and children are far more important than the prestige issue of any school.

Suresh Kumar waned the educational institutions who have not followed his orders and said, "Certain private educational institutions are not caring the order given out in the best interest of the children. They think that they are in a different world. Action will be taken against such institutions, however much influential they are."

Four cases of coronavirus infection are confirmed in the state. In the wake of this situation, the government decided to announce holidays for younger children studying in classes from Nursery to the fifth standard as their immunity level is low. This decision is arrived at after holding joint discussion between the health, education and medical departments of the state.
