Rebel MP Congress MLAs leave Bengaluru

Bengaluru, March 13 (IANS): All 19 rebel Madhya Pradesh Congress MLAs left Bengaluru on Friday after spending four days at a resort on the city's outskirts, a source said on Friday.

According to sources, the rebel MLAs are being flown to Delhi from where they are likely to be taken to a hotel in Gurugram.

"The 19 Madhya Pradesh legislators left Bengaluru in three chartered aircraft on Friday. We don't know in whose aircraft they flew, but they have left," a Karnataka Congress source told IANS on condition of anonymity.

The rebel lawmakers were staying at the Prestige Golfshire resort on the city's northern outskirts since Monday night after they flew from New Delhi and Bhopal in two separate aircraft and stayed put at the resort since then under heavy security.

The rebel lawmakers sent their resignation letters in Hindi to the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker on Wednesday through an emissary.

Of the rebels, six are ministers in the Kamal Nath-led Congress government in Madhya Pradesh. The Chief Minister has recommended their removal from the state cabinet to Governor Lalji Tandon for reportedly revolting against his 15-month old government and for identifying with former party leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, who jumped ship from the Congress to the BJP on Wednesday.
