Kasargod: Overtaken by coronavirus fear women prepares pyre, ends life

Kasargod, Apr 3: A woman, overtaken by the fear of getting afflicted with coronavirus infection, torched herself after preparing her pyre in advance.

The victim has been identified as Dakshayini (60), wife of the late Mundott Kammaran living near Kottakani school, Pallikere here on Thursday, April 2.

Dakshayini had lost her husband a few years ago. She created a pyre near the spot where her husband had been cremated, poured kerosene on herself and ignited it. A case relating to this incident was registered in Bekal police station.

23 participated in Delhi convention

It is learnt that 23 persons from the district had taken part in the religious convention organized at Nizamuddin, Delhi. Four among them have since returned to the district. They have been asked to remain in home quarantine.
