Kasargod: Prisoner under coronavirus observation flees from Kannur prison

Kasargod, Apr 3: A prisoner placed under observation at the coronavirus care centre inside Kannur central prison succeeded in fleeing on Friday, April 3. The prisoner who succeeded in freeing himself from the prison happens to be Ajai Babu from Uttar Pradesh.

Ajai Babu was undergoing jail term for theft. He was accused of stealing from Canara Bank Kasargod. He was shifted to Kannur central prison from Kasargod on March 25. As he had come from Kasargod, a coronavirus-affected region, he was kept in the observation area of the prison.

Ajai Babu escaped by breaking open the ventilator of the prison. The police have now launched a manhunt for him.
