Mangaluru: Summer rains bring respite in Beltangady, nearby areas

Mangaluru, Apr 6: Welcome showers brought some respite from sweltering heat on Sunday, April 5 evening at Beltangady, Didupe, Neriya, Kalmanja, Puduvettu, Noojibalthila and surrounding areas. Most of the remaining parts of the district experienced cloudy weather.

The city had sunny weather with clouds in between. The city dwellers experienced harsh summer day. The highest temperature at Panambur was recorded at 36.7 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature was 26.9 degree Celsius. Both these are expected to rise further in the coming days. Meteorological experts have predicted well spread out rainfall in the coast during the next two days on account of the hot sun causing the formation of rain-bearing clouds.

The meteorological experts believe that pre-monsoon rains his time will be good as against shortfall witnessed consistently since the last some years barring 2015 and 2018 when pre-monsoon showers registered an increase of 22 per cent and 82 per cent respectively.

Many parts of Kodagu district experienced hailstorms coupled with thunder and lightning on Sunday. A few areas plunged into darkness as a fallen tree severed power supply after it fell directly on high tension cables.
