Udupi, Apr 7: State home minister and Udupi district in-charge minister Basavarj Bommai has lauded the work done in Udupi district to control coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
He was speaking in video conference with the deputy commissioner on Tuesday, April 7.
He congratulated the deputy commissioner, CEO, SP, department of health and all the other departments concerned for their excellent work. “As the Covid-19 cases in nearby Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada are more, the restrictions at district border should be tightened and unnecessary traffic of essential items from those districts should be restricted,” he said.
He asked the health department officials to visit houses and hold health examinations of people taking help from local groups and maintaining social distance from each other. He asked to make sure that there is no scarcity of drinking water. Deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha and CEO Preeti Gehlot assured that there is no such issue. DC said that suitable measures are taken to prevent damage to agricultural produce.
“The duration of quarantine of 1974 Indians and 16 foreigners who arrived from abroad will be over on April 5. Another 14 people are under observation. 43 people who were in proximity of 3 infected persons are under quarantine. All of their samples were sent for lab tests and the results were negative,” said the DC.
SP Vishnuvardhan, additional deputy commissioner Sadashiva Prabhu, DHO Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda and district Corona nodal officer Dr Prashanth Bhat were present.
