Belagavi: Asha, Anganwadi workers attacked while conducting coronavirus survey

Belagavi, Apr 8: Asha and Anganwadi workers who had visited Kudachi town in Belagavi district on Tuesday, April 7 to conduct a survey after four coronavirus cases were detected there, were assaulted by some miscreants.

Over 40 coronavirus suspects have been quarantined in a lodge in the town. In this backdrop, the team had visited ward number 3 and 6 of the town to put together health information and to conduct a survey. Some locals attacked them, snatched away their cellphones, tore up records, and used abusive language against them, it is learnt.

Asha workers then came together in front of Kudachi police station, duly urging for the arrest of the attackers. A case in this connection was registered in Kudachi police station. Complaint against the attackers was taken on record.

Taluk medical officer Dr S S Bane, stated that the police have been requested to arrest those involved with this incident and take suitable legal steps against them.
