Bengaluru: Siddaramaiah seeks arrest of BJP MLAs Renukacharya, Yatnal

Bengaluru, Apr 9: Leader of the opposition in the state assembly, Siddarmaiah, has demanded the immediate arrest of chief minister's political secretary M P Renukacharya, and Vijayapura MLA Basanagouda Patil, taking a serious view of their provocative utterances against a minority community.

Siddaramaiah pointed out that both these leaders are lawmakers and issuance of inflammatory statements by such people is a punishable offence as per law. He said that being political secretary of the chief minister, Renukacharya's statement can e construed as having the concurrence of the chief minister, and demanded to drop Renukacharya from the post of the political secretary of the chief minister for speaking provocatively about a minority community, and asserted that he should be arrested after registration of the criminal case.

At the same time, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee working president Saleem Ahmed has written to the chief minister urging him to arrest the two legislators referred above for trying to disrupt peace in the society through inflammatory statements.
