Byndoor, Apr 9: Nine cattle lost their lives after a train knocked them down near the Bijoor railway gate No 74 on Wednesday, April 8.

Eight bullocks and a cow were walking in a line on the railway tracks in front of Nandikeshwara Daivasthana at Mooorgolihaklu when a train moving towards Mangaluru from Goa reportedly rammed into them. The cattle were smashed into pieces and the pieces laid scattered for a distance of 100 metres.

Byndoor police station personnel and locals arranged to dig a pit with the help of a backhoe after which the mortal remains of the cattle were buried in it.
