Ballari: Department seeks report for negligence over death of 13-year-old girl

Ballari, Apr 15: There were reports that Sneha (13) from Bandri village in Sandur taluk of the district had breathed her last in the arms of her father after the father took her to various hospitals and faced inhuman behaviour from private doctors and negligence from the government hospitals. It was said that Sneha failed to get treatment on time.

The department of health has viewed this incident seriously. Officials of the district health and family welfare department have sought a detailed report on the case from Vijayanagara Institute of Medical Sciences here on the incident.

District health officer Dr Janardhan, said that further decision would be taken based on the report. State president of Indian Medical Association, Dr Madhusudan Kriganur said that the death of the girl has pained him a lot. He said that letters have since been sent to private clinics and doctors asking them to extend treatment to all the needy patients.

Dr Yogananda Reddy, president of the legal cell of Indian Medical Association, Ballari, wished that incidents like the death of this girl should not be repeated. He said that IMA has asked all private clinic doctors to extend proper and timely treatment to patients.
