Bengaluru, Apr 15: Because of lockdown, street dogs, abandoned cattle and birds also are finding it hard to save their own lives. Apart from cows, villagers are in the habit of allowing their poultry birds out to find their own food. Many a time these animals find it impossible to get water and food because of summer and lockdown conditions.
Based on a letter received from the Indian Animal Welfare Board about the owners driving away animals to seek their food, deputy director in the department of animal husbandry Parameshwar Naik, has directed officials to hold owners responsible if the animals and birds die out of hunger.
A few people whose hearts throb for the difficulties faced by animals and birds have been providing food and water to the animals. The street dogs are also fed in the form of chicken biryani by well-meaning individuals like Firoz Patan.
