Mysuru, Apr 15: The number of coronavirus infected patients is increasing day by day in the state of Karnataka. Till the afternoon of Wednesday, April 15, 17 new people are infected with coronavirus. But the bottleneck is the infection that has spread from Jubilant pharmaceutical company at Nanjangud.
It is confirmed that nine employees of Nanjangud Jubilant pharmaceutical company are infected with coronavirus on Wednesday, April 15. However, though it is 20 days since the first case was detected in the factory the root of the infection is still not found.
In total 37 primary and secondary contacts have had coronavirus infection from the Jubilant pharmaceutical company. This has caused a huge concern for the district health authorities. First case number 52, an employee of Jubilant pharmaceutical got infected with the virus. This was the third coronavirus case of the district. He did not go abroad and was not in contact with people who arrived from overseas. The district administration and police department is wondering as to how the infection spread.
There is a suspicion that a deliberate attempt is being made to hide the origin of the root cause of the infection. State government has appointed Harsha Gupta to investigate the matter.
Though Jubilant factory is a pharmaceutical company producing medicines it is locked down now. District-in-charge minister S T Somashekhar said, "First the matter has to be cleared with regards to the origin of the root of infection. Moreover, a peaceful environment for the factory to function should be created, then only the company will be given permission to operate."
