Haveri: Seven villagers who tore officials clothes, arrested

Haveri, Apr 16: A police officer and taluk panchayat executive officer, who visited Teggihalli village in Savanuru taluk in the district to educate the people not to sit in crowds on roads and maintain social distance, were attacked by the villagers on Wednesday, April 15.

The people living in a lane in the village pushed the taluk panchayat executive and a home guard personnel accompanying him. When he summoned a police officer there, the crowd sent their women in front as a shield and tore the clothes of the officials. Police circle inspector, Shashidhar and eight staff who went there were also attacked.

In this connection, locals Chamanasab Kanavi, Maulasab Fakruddin, Riaz Ahmed, Dildar, Rashid, Dilshad, and a woman were arrested.
