Udupi, Apr 16: The government at the centre extended lockdown in the country till May 3 in order to prevent spread of coronavirus. In the circumstances, Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh has issued following orders extending section 144(3) in the district to effectively control the pandemic.
- Only staff of particular religious centres are permitted to take part in the festival or fares. Entry of public is banned.
- Summer camps, seminars, sports tournaments and other programmes where people gather are not permitted
- Public entry to beaches is banned
- Weddings and engagements should be held in simple manner avoiding gatherings
- Weekly fares are banned
- Film theatres, malls, auditoriums of dramas, yakshagana, pubs, clubs and night clubs will have to remain shut
- Exhibitions, music festivals, marathons etc should not be held
- Swimming pools, gyms, fitness centres, public gardens and others will have to remain closed
- Schools, colleges, universities, schools of commerce, tutorials and coaching centres will continue to remain closed
- Prayers in mosques including Friday prayers are not permitted
- Eating meals or snacks in restaurants, hotels, cafes is not permitted. Their kitchens will remain open and people are allowed to carry food from them for consumption
- Air conditioned textile shops, jewellery shops, electronic shops and other shops should not be opened
- Public transport buses are banned
- Taxis and autorikshaw transport are not permitted except for emergencies
- Inter-district and interstate travel is banned except for medical emergency situations
- All industrial and commercial activities except those exempted are prohibited
- All political, social, sports, entertainment, educational, cultural and religious gatherings are prohibited
- Public entry and gathering of people at religious places and those of pujas are not permitted
Precautions relating to PGs and hostels:
1. Students should not leave their PGs and hostels. Their facilities for stay and food should be continued even if their dues are pending.
2. Owners of PGs and hostels should understand the need for hygiene as per guidelines from the state government and follow them.
It is the responsibility of the owners of PGs and hostels to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
