Bantwal: Illegal sand mining - Over Rs 20 lac worth goods seized, one arrested

Bantwal, Ap 16: Probationary IPS Ranjith on information about illegal sand mining at Kariyangala in Falguni river during the duration of Corona lockdown, conducted raid and confiscated several lac worth goods. While one person was arrested, and cases are registered against four others.

Illegal sand mining was in progress at Kariyangala of Bantwal taluk. The sand was getting transported in tipper lorry later. Police personnel in the leadership of probationary IPS Ranjith took into custody goods worth Rs 20 lac including 20 loads sand, one excavator used for loading sand and three boats.

While lorry driver Panduranga was arrested, cases are registered against Akesh, Naveen, Shakir and Kabir. A case under section 379 IPC under sand and minerals was registered over illegal mining and transport of sand without license.
