Udupi: MP Shobha Karandlaje to discuss opening of COVID lab with union minister

Udupi, Apr 17: MP Shobha Karandlaje has said that she will hold discussions with union minister to open a COVID lab in KMC Manipal.

Speaking after chairing the review meeting of Corona pandemic control at district panchayat auditorium on Friday, she directed to permit patients from other districts to enter the district for treatment in the company of one or two people.

She directed to make sure that there is no scarcity of drinking water. MLA Raghupati Bhat requested to permit opening of flower shops and MLA Lalaji Mendon to permit people to travel during funerals.

5,388 food kits are distributed to people in distress and 658 shelter homes are arranged for the destitute. Health tests are being held for them regularly. Food kits will be distributed to 5,000 people in the second stage through temples. There is stock of medicine in the district. Help is obtained from various donors. Parle G has donated four lac biscuit packs, said DC G Jagadeesh.

Items can be purchased in the district from 7 am and 11 am every day. Flowers can also be sold. Travel will be allowed during funerals, said the DC.

There was no corona positive case in the district for the last 19 days. The district will come under the green zone after 28 days. Permission to begin bridgework is given. Permission for necessary road construction will also be permitted soon, said the DC.

A news release from Kundapur sub-divisional officer stated that a meeting will be chaired by minister Kota Srinivas Poojary in Kundapur taluk panchayat auditorium to review projects taken up in Kundapur and Byndoor and precautions that need to be taken because of coronavirus pandemic.
