Udupi: Nurse on duty threatened with attack - Case filed

Udupi, Apr 22: Under the growing concern for attacks on medical personnel, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on Wednesday announced that the government is bringing in an ordinance under which attack on health worker will be deemed a non-bailable offence. Javadekar further stressed that those found guilty would face imprisonment of up to seven years and a fine of up to Rs 5 lac. However, a new case of an attack on a health worker surfaced in Uchila of Udupi district.

As per sources, the incident occurred on Wednesday evening. It is learnt that Shyamala, a nurse working in a Uchila health centre was threatened at a house where she went to spread awareness about the deadly pandemic.

Reportedly, the people of the concerned house threatened Shyamala saying 'we will see you in the field.'

A case in this regard has been filed by Shyamala in Padubidri police station.
