Mangaluru: City commissionerate gets 14 additional sub-inspectors

Mangaluru, Apr 24: Towards enabling the police commissionerate here to improve monitoring of law and order situation, bring down the number of crimes and to improve performance of police department, the commissionerate here has recently been provided with 14 new sub-inspectors.

Four among them have been allotted to Ullal police station where the number of sub-inspectors has gone up to six now. Two have been given to Konaje station, and one each to Bunder, Kadri, Barke, Kavoor, Bajpe, Suratkal, Mangaluru rural and Moodbidri stations. Moodbidri station had only an inspector and no sub-inspector was provided till now. Now, this vacancy has been filled.

Urva and Pandeshwar (women) police stations have only one sub-inspector each. No additional staff have been provided to them this time.

Now, Ullal station has six sub-inspectors, three each in Pandeshwar, Bunder, rural and Konaje stations, two each in Barke, Kankanady town station, Panambur, Kavoor, Bajpe, Suratkal, Mulky, traffic (north and south), and traffic (west) stations. Urva, women's and Moodbidri stations now have one sub-inspector each.

The commissionerate has 20 police stations under its command in which 45 sub-inspectors are now functional as against 31 in the past. Police commissioner Dr Harsha P S, said that Ullal police jurisdiction is spread out on a vast area and population also is more as compared to other stations. This area has been identified as sensitive. Therefore, this station has been given six sub-inspectors, he explained.
