Kaup: Youth killed in road accident involving mini tempo

Kaup, Apr 25: After a mini tempo knocked down a youth walking by the side of the national highway 66 at Koppalangady near here, a youth who suffered serious injuries, lost his life. The deceased has been identified as Kiran Kumar (24) from Gadag who was residing in a rented house in Koppalangady.

The accident happened on Friday April 24 morning.

Kiran Kumar used to work as a coolie in and around Kaup since the last two years. He along with brother, Arun Kumar, was going towards Kaup from his home on highway when a mini tempo transporting fruits and vegetables which approached the spot from the direction of Udupi hit him.

The injured Kiran Kumar was immediately shifted to a private hospital at Udupi by the locals in an ambulance but he did not survive the trip to the hospital. The tempo which caused the accident and its driver have been taken into custody by the police.

After post-mortem, the body was released and taken to Gadag for funeral. Kaup police, who have registered the case, are investigating.
