Mangaluru: Savanur Vishwajith Shetty becomes high court additional judge

Mangaluru, Apr 25: The central government has appointed Vishwajith Shetty of Dakshina Kannada origin as additional judge of Karnataka high court for a period of two years. His appointment will be effective from the day he takes over charge.

Vishwajith Shetty is from Savanur in Puttur taluk. After studying PUC in St Philomena institutions at Puttur, he pursued five years law degree course in Vaikuntha Baliga Law College at Udupi. He then went to Bengaluru and joined as junior of the current Karnataka Lokayukta, Justice Vishwanath Shetty. He is currently the senior advocate in Karnataka high court. He is considered an authority both in criminal and civil subjects.

The Supreme Court collegium had recommended his appointment as additional judge of the high court on March 25 last year.
