Kundapur: Over 250 migrant workers proceed to hometowns

Kundapur, Apr 25: Over 250 migrant workers devastated due to coronavirus scare and quarantined in government facilities were freed by district administration and taluk administration. The migrant worker’s families which had come from other districts looking for work were sent home in government buses in the afternoon on Saturday, April 25.

As many as 188 workers from Kundapur taluk and 65 workers from Byndoor taluk proceeded in the company of their families to their home towns. Their celebrations like prisoners released from jail and eagerness to meet their families were evident when they ran and climbed the buses.

The workers were sent in 13 buses from Kundapur taluk and two buses from Byndoor ensuring social distance. While workers from Kalaburgi, Koppala, Gadag, Chitradurga, Dharwad, Bagalkote, Raichur and Belagavi travelled to their homes more than 13 workers who had come without families remained here. Strict police security was arranged. Village accountant, police personnel and revenue officials lead the process on government orders.
