Karkala: Online COVID-19 awareness campaign held by YRC volunteers of MPM GFGC

Karkala, Apr 27: Youth Red Cross volunteers of MPM Government First Grade College, Karkala conducted an online COVID-19 awareness campaign on two different days in two different phases and ways. 

On April 23 around 70 volunteers of a unit released a one-minute long video where they created awareness on COVID-19. The video message was shared on WhatsApp and other social media platforms by all the volunteers at 11 am. Each volunteer posted his/her video from their respective homes. In the same way, 80 volunteers of another unit of the college shared photo images as WhatsApp statuses, forwards and shares on Sunday, April 26.

From this unique activity, the awareness message reached more than 1,500 people. This campaign was successfully conducted to effectively reach out to a large number of people in a very short time.

The principal of the college Prof Shrivarma Ajri M extended his support in planning this activity. The program officer of the Youth Red Cross wing Prof Divya Prabhu took the responsibility of screening and verifying the photos and videos prepared by the volunteers well in advance. The volunteers took the initiative of fixing a common time to spread the awareness message
