Mother's Day: TV actors talk about their life-long best friend

Mumbai, May 10 (IANS): TV actors took out a moment to recall their memorable BFF moments experienced with their mother on Mother's Day on Sunday.

Actress Himani Shivpuri said that her mother was her friend and a partner, and she misses her a lot.

"I played a lot of roles in my mother's life. I was her driver when she wanted to go to places, her cook when she was unwell but, one role that remained unchanged is that of a friend. She was my only best friend with whom I would share every single secret of my life. We often travelled together, went on shopping sprees, had movie marathons, went for walks too and now that she's not here, I really miss her," said Himani.

Actress Kamna Pathak, the Dabbang Rajesh of &TV's "Happu Ki Ultan Paltan", comes across as a strong woman but deep inside she is very emotional when it comes to her mother.

Talking about their relationship, Kamna shared: "My mother is my best friend and I share each and everything with her. It has always been this way because there is no one in the world who understands me better than her. Since childhood, me and my mother have been singing folk songs together and this has made our bond even more special. I still remember, once during Shivratri, me and my mother sang bhajans the entire night and there was a different kind of positivity and energy which kept us going. This is by far the best memorable moment I've got to experience with her till date."

For actress Aparna Dixit of Dangal TV's "Pyaar Ki Luka Chuppi", her mother is her biggest strength and her cheerleader.

"She has taught me the importance of finding joy and happiness in the simplest of things. Her ability to balance between ambition and satisfaction is what makes her my role model. She has taught me patience, kindness, selflessness and love. Since childhood I have seen my mother go through difficult circumstances with a smile and hopeful eyes. The way my mother supports me and feels happy about each step that I take, has kept me going," she said.

"I truly believe that no power in the world can be compared to that of a mother's love. Because of the national lockdown, I can't travel to Agra to meet her until the situation becomes normal," she added.

Talking about a very important life lesson that her BFF mother taught her very recently, Sarika Bahroliya from "Gudiya Humari Sabhi Pe Bhari", shared: "Our friends play an important part in our lives by enriching and encouraging us to do better. One incident so happened that while I was rehearsing for my role of Gudiya, I took time perfecting my skill and I was losing my confidence. It was my mother who made me realise that with practice anything can be mastered. This gave me immense support and will-power to do better, just like a friend would give us boost when we feel low sometimes."

Actor Nishant Singh Malkani who plays the role of Akshat Jindal in Zee TV's "Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega", considers moms to be best.

"They work 24/7, 365 days a year selflessly for their children and families. I think it's true that they are an image of God. They give life and discipline and nurture their child. In this COVID situation, too, when everyone is at home and not working, moms are working double time for their families. Hats off and salute to all mothers," he said.

"Santoshi Maa Sunaye Vrat Kathayein" actor Ashish Kadian went back to his childhood days on Mother's Day on Sunday.

"In my early childhood my mother would ask us to take afternoon naps and that would be the most boring part of the day for me and my brother. One afternoon we sneaked out to the other room to play and this happened for a few days until our mother caught us. We were so scared of being scolded but she instead, started playing with us. That was when I realised that my mother was my friend. Since then she has been participating in all the major decisions of my life and supporting me through my tough times like a loyal BFF would," he said.
