Sullia, May 27: Kukke Subrahmanya temple is considered as one of the holiest temples of south India. Devotees from not only the state but also from distant places in the entire country flock this temple to get special puja, Sarpa Sanskara and Ashlesha Bali procedures performed to appease the serpent god. The temple located in Dakshina Kannada is also credited with being No. 1 temple in Karnataka as far generation of revenue is concerned.

On an average, 10,000 people visit this temple every day. On special occasions, over a lac devotees throng to this place. The rush is heavy during the months of March, April and May on account of school and college holidays. But because of lockdown, the temple has been closed down and therefore, the revenue of the temple has stopped.

The temple had recorded Rs 7.6 crore income in March last year, Rs 6.57 crore in April and Rs 8.61 crore in May. But this time, the temple has not earned any income due to lockdown.
