Kasargod, Jun 8: The lifeless body of Ranjitha (24), wife of Padmanaba Rai, resident of Puthgebail near Kattathadka within Puthige panchayat limits near Kumble in the district was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her home on Monday, June 7.

Ranjitha was the daughter of Vishwanath Rai-Ratnavati couple, agriculturist family living at Anaje, Bettampady in Puttur taluk. Her marriage was performed four years back.

Ranjitha was asleep with her three-year-old son, Kaveesh, on Saturday night inside her bedroom. But, the next morning, the family members saw that she had hanged herself from the ceiling fan inside the bedroom by using her veil to make a noose.

Postmortem of the mortal remains was performed at Pariyaram Medical College Hospital. The husband of the deceased is employed at Mumbai. He had visited his family three months back. Kumble police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
