Chikkamagaluru, Jun 10: At a time when the memory of a pregnant elephant that died after eating a pineapple having explosives in it is fresh, comes the news that three cows were killed here by poisoning jackfruit.
The incident happened at Basaravalli village in Chikkamagaluru taluk. The policemen visited the spot and began investigation. Some miscreants, angered by the fact that cattle were raiding their farms, had planted the fruit with added poison, the police said.
The three cows which died belonged to locals, Kitte Gowda and Madhu. A complaint was lodged at Aldur police station and the police have begun investigation.
