Mangaluru, Jun 13: The case pertaining to the murder of advocate Naushad Kashimji on April 9, 2009 near his flat in the heart of the city has been handed over to Bengaluru city crime branch (CCB) for investigation.

Naushad had appeared in the court on behalf of underworld fugitive, Dawood Ibrahim's accomplice, Rashid Malbari, then. This reportedly had angered Ravi Poojary. It is said that Ravi Poojary had developed animosity towards Naushad also because of links Naushad had with certain organizations. Therefore, it was widely believed that Ravi Poojary had played a role in the murder of the above advocate.

Before the advocate was gunned down, underworld element, Ravi Poojary, had posed him a death threat. This aspect had been proved during the hearing into the said murder. Ravi Poojary is now in the custody of Bengaluru police, and the said murder case has been handed over to Bengaluru CCB police for detailed probe.

Under instruction from senior officers, a team of officials from CCB Bengaluru have come here to begin fresh investigation, it is learnt.
